Jamal Rossi

Jamal Rossi, Senior Executive Associate Dean and Professor of Woodwinds at the Eastman School of Music, has received acclaim as an academic leader and as a saxophone soloist and chamber musician. Prior to his appointment at Eastman in 2005, Rossi's appointments have included Dean of the School of Music at the University of South Carolina and Associate Dean of the Ithaca College School of Music. An active saxophone soloist and chamber musician, he is featured on numerous recordings and he has commissioned/premiered more than fifteen compositions. His articles and reviews have appeared in leading wind publications. He is a former member of the Carolina Saxophone Quartet and the Empire Saxophone Quartet. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he holds a BM from Ithaca College, an MM from the University of Michigan, and a DMA from the Eastman School of Music.
