Guitar Adventure I & II

Guitar Adventure I:

Grades: 2-6
Teacher: Lynn McGrath
Friday, 4:30-5:30
Rettner Music Center (MSH 1)

Tuition: $240 per semester
Tuition with lessons (10% off): $216 per semester
Tuition with lessons and two or more concurrent 17-week classes or ensembles (15% off): $204 per semester
This is a yearlong course divided into two semesters.

Kids from grades 2-6 can explore the possibilities of the acoustic guitar in this fun-filled ensemble setting. Beginners through to early intermediate-level students are invited to take part in an exploration of various styles of music, from classical to rock, while learning and reinforcing guitar technique and musicianship. This is a great way to get started on the guitar before or in coordination with private lessons. Students must provide their own acoustic guitar in playable condition, a guitar footstool, and a folder for handouts. A clip-on electronic tuner is strongly encouraged.

Guitar Adventure II:

Grades: 3-6
Teacher: Lynn McGrath
Friday, 4:30-5:30
Rettner Music Center (MSH 1)

Tuition: $240 per semester
Tuition with lessons (10% off): $216 per semester
Tuition with lessons and two or more concurrent 17-week classes or ensembles (15% off): $204 per semester
This is a yearlong course divided into two semesters.

Students in grades 2-6 who have taken at least one year of private instruction or who have “graduated” from Guitar Adventure 2 are the best fit for this class. Participants must be able to read in first position on at least three strings and have established a fundamental solid technique that includes proper playing posture, the use of finger alternation, and correct left-hand fingerings. Students will continue explore the possibilities of the acoustic guitar in this fun-filled ensemble setting while also working to bring technique and musicianship to the next level through the exploration of various styles of music, from classical to rock. Students must provide their own classical acoustic guitar in playable condition, a guitar footstool, and a folder for handouts. A clip-on electronic tuner is strongly encouraged.
