ENCORE is an intergenerational chorus serving people living with early- to middle-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners, who rehearse and sing together with a host of community volunteers of all ages. The chorus is guided by the Giving Voice Initiative, which fosters the creation and operation of independent choruses that bring joy, well-being, purpose, and community understanding to people with Alzheimer’s Disease and their care partners.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Eastman Community Music School is in search of a team of volunteers to assist with the weekly meetings of this group in its inaugural ten-week session. Volunteers are singing participants in the chorus and commit to being present at all meetings. Each would be assigned a “dyad” (patient + care partner) to guide through rehearsals. Volunteers are further encouraged to assist with set up and strike of rehearsal, welcome singers, and attend to social time, an important component of the experience.

No audition is required, nor is singing experience necessary. Above all, we seek people with an interest in helping this community health initiative through the art of singing.

We are extremely grateful to our community for a quick response. At this moment all volunteer positions have been filled.

If you have any questions or would like to be added to our list of contacts for the future volunteer opportunities,  please contact Eastman Community Music School office at (585)274-1400 or via email at ESM Community Music School community@esm.rochester.edu .
