Jianyi Gu

Jianyi Gu embarked on her musical journey at the age of 8, laying the foundation for a remarkable career. She furthered her education at The Central Conservatory of Music – Piano Academy in Gulangyu and earned both her Bachelor’s (B.M.) and Master’s (M.M.) degrees from prestigious institutions, namely Oberlin Conservatory and Eastman School of Music. Currently, Gu is pursuing a doctoral degree in piano performance and literature under the tutelage of Prof. Alan Chow.

Gu’s exceptional talent has garnered recognition on the international stage through her participation in renowned piano competitions. Her achievements include top prizes in competitions such as the Zhuhai Piano Competition, Grieg and Bartok Piano Competition(Hong Kong), Bluthner Piano Competition, Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, Orbetello Piano Competition, Pacific Stars International Piano Competition, and Thousand Island International Piano Competition. These distinctions highlight her piano mastery and her ability to enchant audiences with her performances.

As a performer, Gu has graced a diverse range of venues worldwide, including Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York City, Weststadthalle in Essen, Germany, Gulangyu Concert Hall in China, Xiamen Hongtai Concert Hall in China, Zhuhai Concert Hall in China, Warner Concert Hall in Oberlin, and Eastman Kilbourn Hall in Rochester. Her music has captivated audiences across the globe, offering them a captivating journey into the world of classical music that leaves a lasting impact.

Gu’s artistic development has been significantly enriched by her association with prestigious teachers at various music festivals. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of studying with distinguished mentors, including but not limited to Zhe Tang, IIja Scheps, Jerome Lowenthal, William Grant Nabore, and Lydia Artymiw. These mentors have played an important role in nurturing her talent and contributing to her proficiency in the realm of classical piano.
