Eric Albert

Lament for the Children, a haunting bagpipe tune was recorded by James McColl in 1958 and would become the inspiration for Eric Albert to take up the pipes in 1986. Instruction from world class players such as Don Lindsay, Iain Donaldson, Jake Watson, James MacGillivray and Willie McCallum laid a solid foundation for his study of this ancient and noble instrument. Attending the graduate business program at Carnegie Mellon University afforded Eric the opportunity to study with Jimmy McIntosh and Alasdair Gillies for several years. More recently, Eric has been fortunate to study with the inspiration of his youth on the west coast, James McColl..

While most passionate about Piobaireachd, the classical music of the pipes, Eric has played in numerous bands including 6 years with the Grade 1 Oran Mor Pipe Band under PM Donald Lindsay. In 2004 he became the P/M of his local New York pipe band, Feadan Or which he Co-founded.

While in Oregon, Eric served for several years as Pipe Major of the Eugene Highlanders and principal instructor for the Lane Fire Brigade Pipes and Drums as well as the faculty piping instructor at the Shedd Music Institute in Eugene, OR

Eric believes that young or old, the Highland Bagpipes offer a unique and  rewarding challenge for the student. With his return to the Rochester, NY area, Eric is excited to bring the highest level of piping instruction to the local community.
