Elise Kim

Elise Kim, a native of Seattle (WA), is a national competition winner and orchestral musician based in Rochester, NY. In September 2023, she joined the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as third flute and piccolo. Elise has also performed as principal flute of the New York String Orchestra Seminar under Jaime Laredo at their Carnegie Hall concert, where she performed with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States prior to their 2016 European tour. 

Elise has been a featured soloist with the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra, UW Symphony Orchestra, Sewanee Summer Musical Festival Orchestra, and Philharmonia Northwest as their concerto competition winner. Additionally, she was a prizewinner of the National Flute Association Masterclass Competition, New Jersey Flute Society Young Artist Competition, Central Ohio Flute Society Collegiate Competition, and the Seattle Flute Society Horsfall Competition. She was also a three-time prizewinner of the Music Teacher National Association Junior and Senior Woodwind Competitions which took her to New York City, Las Vegas, and Anaheim (CA). 

Elise completed her studies with Bonita Boyd at the Eastman School of Music (MM, Performer’s Certificate) and Donna Shin at the University of Washington (BM). She has spent her summers at Spoleto Festival USA, Aspen Music Festival, and the Colorado College Summer Music Festival. In her free time, Elise loves to explore the outdoors skiing, climbing, and backpacking.
