Edie Shillitoe

Edie Shillitoe is currently the Director of the Salt City New Horizons Orchestra in the Syracuse area.  Recently retired from teaching and directing high school and chamber orchestras in the Chittenango Central School district, Mrs. Shillitoe has been teaching strings for over 35 years at every level and with every age group.  A graduate of Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania, she received her Masters from Syracuse University.  She received Suzuki training at the University of San Francisco and taught in a music magnet program at the Houston Independent School District.  She has also taught string methods classes at Syracuse University.  She has conducted orchestras for Area All State festivals at the high school level and enjoys guest conducting throughout New York State at NYSSA All County Festivals.  She is a frequent guest clinician and NYSSMA adjudicator and is the past president of the New York American String Teachers Association.
