Dawn Thomson

Dawn Thomson is a jazz guitarist and vocalist born in Hastings Nebraska and grew up in Montreal. She lived in New York City for many years where she studied with renowned guitarists Jim Hall and Emily Remler. She later became part of the jazz faculty at the New School University.

It was during the 1990s that Thomson began collaborating with many NYC jazz artists including Matt Wilson, Renee Rosnes, Gary Versace, Ron Miles and many others. Dawn has released 6 CDs as a bandleader and composer and has performed and toured around the world including many jazz festivals and clubs in Europe, Canada, and the US. 

She has recorded and toured extensively with Matt Wilson’s Honey and Salt. Their 2017 release won album of the year by the Jazz Journalists Association.

She currently lives in Rochester NY with her husband John Nugent who produces the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival and their two children Jess and Amelia.
