This is a yearlong course divided into two semesters.

Open to advancing Elementary & Middle School string students with at least two years of private study.  Students will hone fundamental elements of orchestral ensemble playing in a focused and supportive environment led by a conductor. Highly recommended for students working on NYSSMA Solo Levels and/or Eastman Levels II-III+. Students build solidarity and community in their ensemble sound by collaborating with all of the bowed string-instruments through movement, conducting, singing, and leading exercises. Repertoire will cover music from contrasting eras and styles, while focusing on developing ensemble participation and confidence.
