Alex Abreu

Abreu is a graduate student at the Eastman School of Music studying with Michael Wayne. After earning his Bachelor’s degree at Oberlin Conservatory, he remained in Oberlin over the 2021-22 school year to work as the Conservatory’s Interim Operations & Ensemble Personnel Manager. During this time, he had the pleasure of playing with several groups in the Cleveland area including the Blue Streak Ensemble, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Firelands Symphony Orchestra, and BlueWater Chamber Orchestra. Some of his favorite projects undertaken while a student at Oberlin include recording Elizabeth Ogonek’s The Water Cantos and performing as bass clarinet soloist on Michael Frazier’s Panels with the Oberlin Percussion Group. Alex recently concluded a summer teaching clarinet at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp.
