Policies

  1. Room ESM 120 is the only venue available to students for a T&MP recording session.
  2. Composition and Conducting & Ensembles readings are coordinated by Yvette Singletary (Composition) and Katharine Zager (C&E) and scheduled by the T&MP Office. To read about requesting a session for a Jazz Media Project, please click here.
  3. Professional projects (audition/competition) recording sessions must be scheduled immediately upon your decision to enter. This is absolutely necessary as the Demo Session slots fill up very quickly, and you may not be able to schedule a recording session on short notice.
  4. No editing will be done on competition recordings.
  5. Professional project requests in excess of 15 hours (including engineering time and administrative time) cannot be processed during the academic year without approval from the T&MP Director. In order to serve you best and to assure the highest quality of your professional projects, we ask that you confine such recording session requests to the summer months, as much as possible.
  6. Show up to your Session prepared and on time. Be courteous and professional about keeping your scheduled appointment times and in the manner in which you do your studio work. This is good training for future opportunities, and will be rewarding in the long run.

Procedure

  1. Fill out all information on the Recording Session Request Form. If the Student Recording Session Request Form is incomplete, it will be returned to you and will hold up the processing of your order. Engineers cannot be assigned and production will not begin until all necessary information is provided.
  2. After the form is submitted, a T&MP Audio Engineer will contact you to discuss the details of your session. We will determine the availability of our resources (staff & equipment) and schedule your session if possible.
  3. You will be notified via email whether your request is denied, approved with a confirmed status, or approved with a tentative status. This email will include an invoice for any tentatively scheduled sessions.
  4. You must pay a non-refundable $35 fee in order to update your session’s status from tentative to confirmed. Print this invoice and take it to the Cashier’s Window, along with payment. Once T&MP receives proof of payment from the cashier’s office, we will notify you via email that your scheduled session has been confirmed.
  5. An invoice will be generated at the end of each day’s session. The pre-paid $35 fee will be credited towards payment for the first session. Payments are due at the end of each session. If you cancel your session, you forfeit the $35 pre-paid fee.

Thank You!
