Pre-requisites: Enrollment in an Eastman graduate program requires successful completion of an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution. Most successful applicants will have completed the bachelor of music degree, or the close equivalent of its core curriculum as part of another undergraduate degree program.
Majors in composition and music education are offered in both the MM and the MA degree. The MM degree option for these majors includes performance as a strong secondary focus, and a successful audition is required for admission to the MM. The MA option for these majors has research as a secondary focus, and does not require an audition or lessons.
All MM degree programs, including composition and music education, have a strong performance emphasis, and require an audition on an applied instrument or voice. The MA does not require an audition for admission, but may include applied study on the secondary level.
