Autograph album of the music publisher Alfred Phillips, which contains autographs, correspondence, music sketches, and other ephemera (ca. 1884-1890).

Alfred Phillips was a music publisher in England during the late nineteenth century.

Scope and Content

The scrapbook served as Phillips autograph album from ca1884-1890. Most notable items are several letters from Gounod and the composer’s death notice. The autographs are almost all clipped from letters and few are of prominent individuals. Most significant are Ebenezer Prout and Jenny Lind.
