Dan Lopata
Bindery Supervisor

Dan worked for decades in warehouse/distribution/inventory management, before returning to school in 2008 to get his degrees in Music and Library Science. In 2012, with his background in management and operations, he was hired as a Digitization Assistant for the NEH grant project Sibley won to scan and digitally publish over 20,000 public domain scores from their holdings. Since then Dan has developed his knowledge of preservation techniques and has expanded his role in the preservation department to recently become the Bindery Supervisor. He also serves on the University of Rochester Libraries Diversity and Inclusivity Committee.

In his free time, you can find Dan performing with many different local and regional groups on his string bass and electric bass. He regularly hosts Son House Blues Night the last Thursday of each month at the Record Archive with Genesee Johnny where they highlight black and brown musicians in the Rochester area tying the legacy of Eddie “Son House” James to our current music scene.
