Next week, Summer@Eastman 2019 continues with rehearsals and a performance by our Summer Baroque Ensemble, which brings members of the amateur and professional musical communities together to play baroque music. The class runs from July 21 through July 30, and on Thursday, August 1, you can hear the participants perform in a concert in Kilbourn Hall.
This year Eastman Community Music School faculty members Mitzie Collins and Josephine Gaafke will the solo harpsichords in the Bach Concerto in C Major, BWV 1062; Nazareth College freshman Jacob Auchman will play the solo bassoon in Vivaldi’s Concerto in E Minor, RV 484; and Eastman DMA candidate and ECMS faculty member Kenneth Kam will play the rarely heard solo lute part for Vivaldi’s popular Concerto in D Major, RV 93.
Here’s a 2017 article about Eastman Summer Baroque Institute director Josephine Gaafke.
