Weather Emergencies
The Eastman Community Music School will not automatically close if area schools are closed. Please leave extra travel time to get to your lessons or classes in the case of poor weather.
In the case of an emergency closure, ECMS lessons and classes will be held online. If technical issues prevent remote study, individual lessons will be made up at a later date. Cancelled ensembles will not be made up.
If ECMS remains open during inclement weather, individual teachers may opt to reschedule their activities at their discretion.
In the event of a school-wide closure, we will notify you via the following:
- An email alert will be sent to all faculty, students, and parents. To assist this procedure, please be sure to update your email address in UR Student.
- A notice will be posted on our website and Facebook page.
- Alerts will be issued through local media outlets (television, radio) for school closings and delays:
- If the school closes during lessons and classes, ECMS faculty members are instructed to call their students’ parents to inform them of the closing and arrange for pick up.
