Tomaszewski, Will

Will Tomaszewski has played the trumpet for 13 years and is now earning his master’s in music
performance at the Eastman School of Music. He currently primarily studies with Andrew
McCandless, and his past teachers include Dr. Brandon Craswell, Philip Smith, Wesley Nance,
and Chris Martin. Last spring, Will earned his bachelor’s in music performance from the
University of Georgia. There, he played principal trumpet/cornet in the UGA Symphony
Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and British Brass Band. He was also a part of the graduate brass
quintet, the Bulldog Brass Society, last spring. Will was a finalist in the UGA Concerto
Competition three times, from 2023 to 2025.

Outside of school, Will has found success competing at the National Trumpet Competition. He
was awarded first prize in the Vincent Bach Undergraduate Solo Division in 2025 and was
previously awarded the second prize in the Yamaha Military Band Excerpts Division in 2024. He
was also a semifinalist this past year in both the solo division and the large ensemble division
with the UGA Trumpet Ensemble group, “Top Dogs”. Over the past few summers, Will has
participated in a variety of music festivals. In 2024, he participated in the Eastern Music Festival,
studying under Chris Gekker and Alex Wilborn. In 2025, he was a part of the Chosen Vale
International Trumpet Seminar, studying under world-class faculty. Most recently, he was a
fellow at the Festival Napa Valley, studying under Christopher Still.

In his free time, Will enjoys playing tennis and pickleball with his friends, going to the gym, and
cooking. Will is very grateful for the endless support of his family and mentors and knows he
could not be where he is today without their guidance.
