Pianist Xiaoliang Qian is celebrated for his dynamic performances and technical mastery. Currently pursuing his doctorate at the Eastman School of Music under the mentorship of Professor Marina Lomazov, he has won top prizes in numerous competitions, including the Thousand Islands Competition, the MTNA Young Artist Competition, the Lewisville Lake International Piano Competition, the Grand Junction Young Artist Competition, and the Schubert Club Scholarship Competition.
An active performer, Mr. Qian has appeared in recitals and concerts at venues worldwide, both as a soloist and as a collaborator. Most recently, he was featured as a soloist with the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and the Lewisville Lake Symphony Orchestra, captivating audiences with performances of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2. His latest solo recital for the Rochester Piano Teachers’ Guild also received high praise.
Mr. Qian has taught students ranging in age from five years old to college seniors. He tailors his lessons to address individual needs, helping students develop both technical skills and musical artistry. Currently, he teaches secondary piano lessons at the Eastman School of Music and serves as a studio Teaching Assistant in the studio of Dr. Marina Lomazov.
Mr. Qian holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and a Master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music.
