Nicole Yanzuo Liu is a classical pianist who is passionate about performing and teaching. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Ran Dank. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School and a Master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music.
Nicole enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels and has previously taught at West Amadeus Music Studio in New York City. She believes that every student is unique and that teaching should be adapted to each student’s individual needs and learning style. She strives to create a supportive environment where students can develop their skills, confidence, and love for music.
Nicole is a winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition and the Eastman Concerto Competition, where she performed the Barber Piano Concerto with the Eastman Philharmonia under the baton of Kensho Watanabe. She has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Van Cliburn Concert Hall, Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, and at the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington, D.C. as part of the Washington Young Artists Music Series. Her festival experience includes the Bowdoin International Music Festival, PianoTexas International Festival & Academy, Garth Newel Music Center, and the Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy. As a recipient of Juilliard’s Gluck Community Service Fellowship, she presented interactive chamber music performances in healthcare centers throughout New York City.
An active chamber musician, Nicole frequently collaborates with fellow artists and currently serves as a graduate assistant in piano accompanying and as an ensemble pianist at the Eastman School of Music.
