Recognized as a Yamaha Young Performing Artist, pianist Meihui An has distinguished herself through compelling artistry, expressive musicianship, and a versatile presence as both soloist and chamber musician. She began studying piano at the age of four and a half and has since appeared as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and chamber musician in concert halls across North America, Asia, and Europe.
An has participated in renowned festivals and programs including the Aspen Music Festival where she studied with Arie Vardi and Veda Kaplinsky. She is also a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition, Brockton Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Highland Glee Club Music Prize, Kuleshov International Piano Festival and Competition, and the Young Artists Competition of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, she was named as a Yamaha Young Performing Artist, a national distinction recognizing outstanding collegiate musicians.
Meihui is also an experienced piano educator, teaching at Eastman Community Music School (ECMS) and through her private studio, working with students of diverse ages and musical backgrounds. Her students have participated in recitals, performances, and other musical opportunities, while developing strong musical foundations, healthy technique, and greater confidence as musicians. She is committed to helping each student develop an individual relationship with music and fostering a lifelong appreciation for piano.
After moving to the United States in 2017, Meihui studied at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School with Jung-A Bang. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Eastman School of Music, where she holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, a Certificate in Arts Leadership, and a Minor in Japanese from the University of Rochester. She studies with Marina Lomazov and Joseph Rackers. Beyond the concert stage, Meihui is active in digital content creation through her piano-focused social media platform, @meihui_plays_piano, where she shares performances, musical content, and insights into the life of a pianist.
