New Horizons Symphony Orchestra
General Information

DescriptionThe New Horizons Symphony Orchestra is designed for adults with experience performing on classical instruments at the intermediate or advanced level, and who are interested in building/reinforcing their ensemble skills through challenging repertoire choices. Sessions are in a traditional ‘orchestra-rehearsal’ format and address a variety of topics, including music-reading, rhythm skills, instrument technique, ensemble playing, and following a conductor. Participants are encouraged to share their questions, as well as their successes and struggles in rehearsal, as participants have much to learn from each other. Repertoire choices will consist of classical favorites, famous orchestral scores, some original scores, and arrangements from an intermediate to advanced level.
During Fall semester, the ensemble will comprise of string players only, expanding to welcome Winds, Brass, and Percussion players during the Spring semester for a full symphonic orchestra experience.
Performances include concerts in December and May, with an additional performance scheduled mid-semester.
