Advanced Percussion Ensemble

Description
This is a yearlong course divided into two semesters.
This ensemble is open to advanced students who perform at NYSSMA levels 5 and 6. Students are expected to play in all 3 major areas of orchestral percussion: snare drum, timpani and keyboard percussion. The ensemble repertoire will include traditional percussion, world music ensembles, and keyboard percussion ensembles. Attention will be given to refining the techniques on a wide variety of orchestra percussion instruments. Students should be willing to work independently to prepare their parts so that rehearsal time can be spent on developing the musical aspects of ensemble playing.
