Congratulations to Dovas Lietuvninkas ’16E for being named Associate Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, where he began his appointment this past September.
A trumpeter and educator, Lietuvninkas has built a wide-ranging career spanning contemporary, chamber, orchestral, folk, and improvised music. In 2017, he was awarded a U.S. Fulbright grant to study trumpet and Lithuanian folk instruments in Vilnius, later joining the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet. He went on to hold positions with the Hartford and New Haven Symphony Orchestras in Connecticut and served for one season as interim principal trumpet with the Louisville Orchestra.
Lietuvninkas received his Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance and music education from Eastman, where he returned in November 2024 as a featured trumpet soloist with the Eastman Wind Ensemble.
