What is ROCmusic?

ROCmusic offers classical music instruction and instrument lessons to students in grades 1-12 who reside in the city of Rochester, New York. No previous musical experience or training is required and there is no charge for instruments or instruction!


Each student in our program receives:

  • Music classes, ensemble rehearsals, and concert participation
  • An instrument and lessons ~ recorders/drums or bowed string instruments
  • All necessary music books and materials
  • Snack, dinner, and field trip participation
  • Full scholarship to participate in all ROCMusic activities, free of charge!

Now accepting applications for new students in Summer 2016, and 2016-2017 school year. We are on a ‘rolling admission’ wait-list period, as of now.  


During the school year, ROCmusic operates in two downtown Recreation locations:

Edgerton R-Center // 41 Backus Street // grades 2-5 focus // 2-days a week, Tu/Th

Gantt R-Center // 700 North Street // grades 1-12 focus // 3 days a week, Mon/Wed/Fri
