Inspirational Debussy

Inspirational Debussy, new music
Wednesday, 17 October 2012, 8 pm, Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre

Eastman Musica Nova is conducted by Brad Lubman in a program that combines two great works by Pierre Boulez,  and new works inspired by Debussy’s piano prelude, “Des pas sur la neige,” by four Eastman composers:  David Liptak, Brad Lubman, Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, and Allan Schindler.  The Boulez works are from two distinct periods:  “Eclat” (1965), a scintillating work of modernism, and “Mémoriale” (1985) which sounds like what Debussy might have written had he been alive in the late 20th Century.
