Congratulations to the winners of Eastman‘s second annual songSLAM, held on Saturday, February 7 in Sproull Atrium at the Miller Center. Hosted by Associate Professor of Vocal Coaching Alison d’Amato, participants in this year’s competition included Eastman alumni and students, with eleven world premieres launched with impeccable performances, embodying a wide range of styles, languages, and stories. By audience vote, this years winners are:
1st place: “What Lips my Lips have Kissed” by Karen Goldfeder ’23E (MM), performed by Kostantina Gotouhidis, soprano and Eastman PhD student Hannah Harnest ’24E (DMA), pianist.
2nd place: “Scene: By the Shore” by Cary Ratcliff ’75E, ’89E (DMA), performed by Lydia Brown, soprano and Alan Giambattista, pianist.
3rd place: “Oraison Nocturne” by Dominic Fiacco, performed by Sofia Martinez, mezzo-soprano and Dominic Fiacco, pianist.
Honorable mention: “Listen” by Nathanael Kumar, performed by Sarah Cao, soprano and Misha Studenkov ’25E, accordionist.
