Congratulations to Eastman student Huiping Cai for recently taking top prize in the Vancouver Piano Sessions Concerto Competition, which welcomed pianists from around the world to submit a single movement, chosen from an official repertoire list. She was 1 of 3 competitors in her age category to advance to the finals, where she performed her concerto movement live in front of a 3-person jury. Huiping and 5 other pianists were named winners of the competition, giving each the opportunity to perform as soloists in a special concert with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra that took place on August 13, 2025. Huiping is currently pursuing a DMA in Piano Performance & Literature, studying with Professor Alan Chow, alongside an MM in Piano Accompanying & Chamber Music with Professor Andrew Harley.
