Eligibility:
- Study carrels are exclusively for graduate students, including DMA and PhD candidates.
- Carrel assignments are subject to availability and assignments cannot be changed once it has been issued. Students will receive an email notification with their carrel key and carrel number. The carrel is listed in your library account and is checked out to you for the entire academic year.
Renewals:
- Renewal reminders are sent by email before the end of the spring semester.
- To renew a carrel, users must resubmit the Graduate Carrel Online Form.
Use & Care Guidelines:
- Maintain a clean and orderly carrel.
- Do not leave personal belongings unattended.
- Hot plates, tea kettles, and food preparation equipment are not permitted.
- Please maintain a quiet study environment.
Personal Property & Security:
The Library cannot guarantee the safety of personal items left in carrels, and other patrons may use an open, unoccupied carrel. When away, keep desktops and windowsills free of loose papers. Do not leave electronics or valuables in plain view.
Maintenance Issues:
Please report any lighting, furniture, room temperature changes, or key replacements to Vittoria Stirpe at vstripe@esm.rochester.edu.
Library Materials Not Permitted in Carrels:
- Course reserves
- Collected Editions
- Interlibrary loans
- Reference materials
- Periodicals
- Media items
Failure to comply with these policies may result in the loss of carrel privileges.
Please note that the library is not responsible for lost, stolen, missing, or damaged property.
