Joseph Fondren is a saxophonist from Texas dedicated to bringing captivating and engaging performances to his audiences. He is entering into the Performance and Literature degree, studying saxophone with Professor Chien-Kwan Lin. He serves as the Teaching Assistant for secondary saxophone students.

His first and earliest teachers included Jason Fondren and Dr. Robert Seligson. They helped to propel him to the next level through his high school years, and helped him to discover his passion and love for music.

He earned his Bachelor degree of Music Performance from West Texas A&M University, studying under Dr. James Barger. During this degree, he performed various solo recitals, performed with Jazz 1, performed with the WT Symphonic Band at Carnegie Hall, and studied flute and clarinet. He was named the winner of the MTNA Texas Young Artist Woodwind division in 2025. He also appeared at masterclasses taught by Otis Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Andy Wen, Claude Delangle, and Doug O’Connor.

Apart from his main passion of solo performance, he has played with many quartets, including the Veritas Quartet at the 2025 Navy Band Saxophone Symposium, the Expedition Quartet at the Frederick L. Hemke Saxophone Institute, the Texoma quartet at the Enid Symphony Wine Series, and the award winning Reverie Saxophone Quartet, which was awarded 2nd place at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition in Austin Texas in 2026.

Joseph is an advocate for new music, frequently premiering and programming contemporary works, and collaborating with composers. He also enjoys performing Jazz, Latin, Classical, and Colombian Music. He hopes to advance the medium of contemporary saxophone music, and help the genre gain a greater appreciation in the music world.
