STUDENT PROFILE
Hailing from San Diego, California, Benjamin Dragics is a first-year studying saxophone performance under Professor Chien-Kwan Lin at the Eastman School of Music.
In high school, Ben served as principal alto saxophone and section leader of the Rancho Bernardo High School Wind Ensemble, which toured Carnegie Hall in 2023 and 2026. He additionally performed as a concerto soloist with the Rancho Bernardo Symphony Orchestra, performing Ibert’s Concertino da Camera. A repeat selectee to California’s highest honor ensembles, he performed as the soprano saxophonist in the CASMEC All-State Wind Symphony and the SCSBOA All-Southern Wind Ensemble in 2026, and was honored with the Director’s Award as an outstanding graduate in band.
Ben has played saxophone for seven years and has studied with Bradley Nash since March 2023. He has participated in the University of Michigan MPulse Saxophone Institute and the Colburn Saxophone Intensive in Los Angeles, where he studied with performers Dr. Timothy McAllister and Dr. John Hallberg. Ben is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics at the University of Rochester.
