Alexander O’Neil is originally from Plano, Texas, currently pursuing a Masters degree in Oboe Performance at the Eastman School of Music with Richard Killmer. He previously received his Undergraduate degree in Music Performance with a full tuition/faculty scholarship from Baylor University studying under Dr. Euridice Alvarez.
His experience ranges from ages 11-21, teaching middle school and high school student private lessons and summer camps in Texas, as well as currently holding the TA position at the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester for secondary oboe lessons. Most familiar with the rigorous Texas All-State competition process, he believes in a healthy balance of learning instrument technique, reed making, music theory, and exploring individual musical expression by developing good habits and thought processes for young musicians.
He is very excited to start his first year at ECMS!
