Ethan Pound is a trombonist, teacher, and composer/arranger from Baltimore Maryland. He earned his Bachelors of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, and is currently earning a Masters of Music and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music.
In addition to teaching at ECMS, Pound serves as Director of Sackbuts for Christ Church’s Schola Cantorum and as Department Assistant to the Eastman Trombone Choir. He has previously worked as a brass instructor for the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestras, the Right Direction Project, and the Peabody Innovation and Music Academy, and was the Teaching Assistant for Eastman’s Trombone Methods class.
Known as a versatile musician, Pound has performed alongside artists such as Sean Jones, Edmar Castañeda, Camilla Meza, Arun Ramamurthy, and many others. Notable performances include the 2024 Bang on a Can Long Play Festival with the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, the 2022 United Nations Gala with the Oberlin Orchestra, and the 2019 Jazz Informance at the United States Department of Education.
Pound was recently featured as a soloist with the Eastman Jazz Lab Band, and will be performing Henri Tomasi’s Concerto for Trombone with the Mostly Modern Orchestra in June.
