Aaron Lieberman is a cellist from New York City who is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music, studying with David Ying. He previously studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with Darrett Adkins. He is an avid chamber musician and has performed with multiple groups throughout his career, including as the cellist of the Vantage Trio. He has played in masterclasses with Steven Isserlis, Natasha Brofsky, David Geber, and Joel Krosnick, among others, and has spent his summers at the music festivals of Aspen, Bowdoin, Orford, and Kneisel Hall. Aaron is also a composer, having studied composition with Elizabeth Ogonek and Jihyun Kim, and is passionate about performing and engaging with contemporary music. He has performed as a member of Eastman’s Musica Nova, Graduate Composers’ Seminar, and OSSIA New Music in his first year in Rochester and is excited to share his passion for new music with wider audiences. As a teacher, Aaron is focused on nurturing students’ passion for music and physical comfort and stability, and is excited to share his musical interests with the next generation.
