Dr. James B. Cochran Endowed Organ Prize
The James B. Cochran Organ Prize fund was established to honor the lifeβs work of Eastman graduate James Cochran β80E (MM), β92E (DMA) and given by Dr. Cochran and Mr. & Mrs. Robert W. Martin. Dr. Cochran received Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. He has been Director of Music and Organist at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years.

Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition
With the establishment of the Jessie Kneisel Prize in 1981, Eastman began a tradition of celebrating Dr. Kneiselβs rich contributions to the school and her life-long love of German and Austrian culture. An annual competition determines the winners of the Kneisel Prize for outstanding performances of German lieder by singers and collaborative pianists.
