Sibley Music Library
The Sibley Music Library is the largest and most comprehensive academic music library in North America, and third largest among United States music collections overall. Its immense holdings include 344,000 books and scores; a sheet music collection approaching 150,000 items (largely uncataloged); 84,000 recordings on LP, CD, tape and video; 650 current journal subscriptions; and 14,000 microforms.
The Ruth T. Watanabe Special Collections has over 150,000 rare items and archival collections. It contains one of the most superb collections of rare music collections in the world. The Eastman School of Music Archive of Recorded Sound preserves recordings of Eastman performances dating back to 1930.
Facilities include a listening room with 50 stations to accommodate audio and video playback, numerous public computers, microform readers, 50 graduate student carrels, and the first in-house conservation and preservation lab in a music library. In addition to its incredible resources, the Library staff offers bibliographic instruction to individuals, small groups, and classes.
