Piano Accompanying
Wanxin Yu was born in Liaoning, China. She recently graduated from the Department of Music Education of the Central Conservatory of Music, studying piano accompanying Dr. Jialin Zhang, and Dr. Yucong Wang. She also studied with Simon Lepper, the official accompanist of the 2024 BBC Cardiff World Vocal Competition, who praised her as being “very sensitive and intelligent, with a keen sense of music.”
Wanxin began her piano studies at the age of five and has participated in various piano competitions. She won first prizes in Steinway National Youth Piano Competition, Dalian Regional Division and 22nd “Bosnia” American Music Open Competition, China Division Finals, and third prize in 4th KAWAI Asia Piano Competition, China. During her time at CCM, she collaborated with clarinet, French horn, double bass, and Chinese bamboo flute. In 2023, she participated as a vocal pianist at the National Center for the Performing Arts of China.
In 2024, Wanxin was admitted to the Royal College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and the Eastman School of Music. Currently, she is pursuing the degree of Master of Music in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music with Dr. Andrew Harley at the Eastman School of Music, where she holds a graduate assistantship in vocal and instrumental accompanying.Â
