John Wellmann is a third-year horn performance and music education major from Anchorage, Alaska. He is a proud member of the horn quartet Earth, Wind & Geyer, and with them won the Horn Quartet Competition at the 2026 Northeast Horn Workshop. He served as principal horn in the Anchorage Youth Symphony while studying with Evan Hagen of the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra. He also participated in the University of Alaska chamber ensemble, the Alaska All-State Band, and the NAfME All-Northwest Band. John has additional experience as a jazz horn player in groups such as the Alaska Jazz Workshop, Ruben Lopez Big Band, and Crystal Funk Magic. He also enjoys playing piano, singing, and dog mushing.
