DATES AND AUDITION OPTIONS
2027 On Campus Audition Dates: January 29, February 5, 12, 19, and 26
There is no pre-screening recording required for piano applicants who are seeking to major in composition, music education, or theory. Applicants may choose to audition either on-campus or via video upload, and the required repertoire is the same for both audition types.
2027 Remote Audition Option: Applicants who choose to audition by video recording should submit all other application materials by December 1st and upload their audition video within the online application by February 1st.
PRESCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate and Graduate Requirements
There is no prescreening requirement for piano applicants who are planning to major in either composition, music education, or theory. Piano applicants who would like to major in Applied Music (classical performance) or Performance and Literature (classical performance) should as either their primary major or as a double major should refer to the prescreening and audition requirements found here. Applicants in jazz studies and contemporary media should refer to the section on jazz for their audition requirements.
Applicants for all degree levels must prepare an audition program including three contrasting pieces from three different stylistic periods, including one piece by Bach. Selections should be performed from memory. If interviewing live applicants will audition while on campus. Applicants interviewing remotely should submit all other application materials by December 1st and must upload their audition recording within their online application by February 1st.Β Student compositions and pieces in jazz or popular styles are not acceptable for the purpose of this audition. Applicants who apply in these majors and audition on piano are not compared to performance majors.
