PRE-SCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate
2023 Rochester Audition Date: Friday February 10, 17
Bassoon Pre-Screening: By the application deadline, all bassoon applicants must upload a pre-screening video recording within their application. Please include the following in your video.
- Three to five minute solo piece of the applicant’s choice played with or without accompaniment.
Audition Repertoire Requirements: Applicants who are selected to advance to the audition round can either audition on-campus, or remotely live via Zoom.
- Two contrasting movements from a concerto of the applicant’s choice played without accompaniment.
- One Milde Étude from Op. 24
- A slow, melodic étude or solo piece of the applicant’s choice
- Orchestral excerpts:
- Mozart: Overture to the Marriage of Figaro m.101-m.171
- Ravel: Bolero rehearsal 2 to 3
- Tchaikovsky: Symphony no. 4: mvt. II, m. 274 to end
- All major and minor scales
- Sight-reading

- Orchestral excerpts performed from memory:

- Stravinsky: Le Sacre Du Printemps opening to #4
