He appears regularly as a guest speaker, lecturer or performer, and has held appointments in orchestras and universities large and small. Caen was named one of Musical Americaβs Top 30 Arts Administrators and he is a recipient of the Sphinx Organizationβs MPower Artist Grant. He earned degrees in flute performance from Rice University and the University of Redlands, with additional studies at the University of Michigan and the UniversitΓ€t Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. He and his wife love living in Michigan, where they try to be outdoors in every season and keep up with everything their three children enjoy doing.
