Gaurav Sarangi is a senior pursuing a dual degree in Classical Saxophone Performance and Computer Science at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester. He studies saxophone with Professor Chien-Kwan Lin and performs with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Skywood Saxophone Quartet, and the Eastman Saxophone Project, for whom he arranged George Gershwin’s Three Preludes, contributing to the ensemble’s repertoire. He has competed in the North American Saxophone Alliance Collegiate Solo Competition and Collegiate Quartet Competition.

Gaurav is a fellow in the Catherine Filene Shouse Arts Leadership Certificate Program through Eastman’s Institute for Music Leadership, where he explores arts leadership, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. Before attending Eastman, he was a four-year member of the Overtone Saxophone Quartet, with whom he was a semifinalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and a finalist in the Coltman National Chamber Music Competition. He previously studied with Mark Alewine and Dr. Alexander Richards of the Victoria Conservatory and served as principal baritone saxophonist of the TMEA All-State 5A Wind Symphony.
