Isaac Boone

STUDENT PROFILE
Isaac Boone is a saxophonist, music educator, and composer originally from Hanover, IN. He is currently pursuing his Master of Music in Saxophone Performance and Literature and an Arts Leadership Certificate at the Eastman School of Music, where he serves as a teaching assistant in saxophone and music theory. Before coming to Eastman, he earned his Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance and Music Education with Woodwind Program Honors at Northwestern University.
As a solo musician, Isaac has garnered national and international recognition, such as being named a Winner of the 2024 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition, 1st Prize in Classical Saxophone of the 2023 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition, and most recently, the Hans Schaeuble Award at the 2024 Arosa Music Academy in Switzerland, where he returned in March 2025 to perform in the Arosa Klassik Festival. As a chamber musician, he is a Co-Founder and the Operations Director of Masso, a Chicago-based saxophone quartet dedicated to the commissioning, democratization, and accessibility of contemporary classical music. Masso has garnered honors such as placing in the NASA Collegiate Quartet Competition, being selected as a finalist for Northwestern’s Fletcher Prize for Outstanding Research, and receiving the Emerging Artist Fellowship at Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival.
Isaac is also a composer and arranger who has written for a variety of saxophone-based ensembles, including collaborations with the Eastman Saxophone Project, the Northwestern Saxophone Ensemble, the CCM Saxophone Ensemble, Simian Duo, and Lati2de Duo. Upcoming projects include an original composition and arrangement for the newly formed Eastman Saxophone Sextet, as well as a wind ensemble arrangement for the Westminster College Band.
Finally, Isaac has served as a music teacher for seven years in a variety of roles, such as a private saxophone instructor, special education keyboard instructor, marching and woodwind instructor, and student teacher in high school and middle school band classes. He looks forward to pursuing a career in K-12 or higher education following his graduate studies in saxophone performance.
