Charismatic and popular with audiences in recital and concerto settings,Β Huiping Cai is an engaging pianist renowned for her lyricism, musicality, andΒ formidable technique. After winning First Prize, Best Concerto Award, andΒ Best Recital Award at the 2017 Philadelphia International Piano Competition,Β she also won first prizes at the 2018 Miami Music Festival Piano ConcertoΒ Competition, the 2019 Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford,Β Connecticut, the 2022 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, and theΒ 2023 New York Franz Liszt International Piano Competition.
Huiping made her Carnegie Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall and SternΒ Auditorium Perelman Stage with the Orchestra of St. Lukeβs in 2023. As aΒ soloist, Huiping has performed for audiences in countries such as the UnitedΒ States, Mexico, Russia, Kazakhstan, and her home country, China. She hasΒ also performed piano concertos with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra,Β Hong Kong VTC Symphony Orchestra, Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra,Β Kazakhstan National Symphony Orchestra, Miami Music Festival Orchestra,Β Orchestra of St. Lukeβs, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and TempleΒ University Symphony Orchestra. In May 2023, she gave a chamber musicΒ concert tour in Shanghai and Hangzhou with the Gallant Quartet, featuringΒ piano quartets written by Brahms and Schumann.
Huiping received her M.M. in Piano Performance from the New EnglandΒ Conservatory where she studied with Dang Thai Son and held a TeachingΒ Assistantship. She is currently pursuing her D.M.A. in Piano PerformanceΒ & Literature under the tutelage of Alan Chow, alongside an M.M. in Piano Accompanying & Chamber Music with Andrew Harley at the Eastman SchoolΒ of Music. In 2024 and 2025 Huiping was accepted into the Collaborative Piano Program at the Tanglewood Music Center. She currently holds a graduate assistantship in vocal and instrumental accompanying.
