CMA @ Eastman – a Chamber Music Celebration
About This Event
Chamber Music America unites musicians, concert presenters, and music educators from across upstate New York for a special program on Saturday, December 12, at the Eastman School of Music, as part of the School’s Chamber Music Extravaganza weekend.
Registration will be required, more information coming soon!
The CMA gathering opens with a chamber music masterclass led by violist Larry Dutton, formerly of the Grammy Award-winning Emerson String Quartet, offering student musicians an opportunity to learn from one of the field’s most distinguished artists.
The program continues with a panel discussion, Creating Impact from Education to the Concert Stage, featuring Kate Sheeran, Dean of the Eastman School of Music; Kathy Schuman, Vice President and Artistic Director of Caramoor; Nicholas Phan, tenor and Co-Founder of Art Song Chicago; Larry Dutton; and Kevin Kwan Loucks, CMA’s CEO. Together, they will explore how higher education prepares musicians for the concert stage, nurtures artistic growth, and helps cultivate the next generation of audiences.
The gathering concludes with a performance of a Mozart quintet by the Ying Quartet and guest violist Larry Dutton, bringing the day’s conversations to life through music.
The panel will feature Dean Sheeran as well as a number of artists and field professionals:
