STUDENT PROFILE
Songyue Ge is a saxophonist from China and a first-year Master of Music student in Saxophone Performance at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies with Professor Chien-Kwan Lin.
He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Soochow University School of Music, studying under Dr. Sean Xue. During his undergraduate years, he performed as both a soloist and chamber musician at notable venues such as the Soochow Enling Art Center, Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre, Cadillac Concert Hall, and Suzhou Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater. His orchestral experience includes performances with the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, the SUSM Wind Ensemble, and the Shanghai Opera House.
His competition achievements include First Prize at the Chinese Hummingbird Music Awards (Saxophone Quartet, 2023) and winning the 2024 Soochow University Concerto Competition, which led to his performance as soloist with the Soochow University Symphony Orchestra.
International experience includes participation in France’s Université Européenne de Saxophone and China’s MOSA International Saxophone Festival. He has attended masterclasses with distinguished saxophonists such as Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Mariano Garcia, and Nicolas Arsenijevic.
His teaching experience includes saxophone instruction at Kunshan Kang Chiao International School and Suzhou Yucheng Primary School. Since 2021, he has also served as a studio assistant in the saxophone department at Soochow University.
