The Bachelor of Music Theory major is designed for students interested in pursuing advanced, independent work in music theory and analysis. Students in this major combine academic research in theory with applied studies in performance or composition or the BA in another academic area. Following a sequence of advanced courses, students complete an independent research project under the supervision of a faculty advisor, culminating in a thesis and a public presentation. Students in this program have gone on to graduate studies at top institutions.
