The Eastman Writing Center offers individual consultation and workshops to help students improve their writing skills. Experienced writing consultants are available to help students with writing concerns and writing assignments. We support students in all kinds of writing. While most students seek guidance for papers in academic courses, we also work with graduate school applications, resumes and cover letters, biographies, proposals and personal statements. The Center is open to all students of Eastman, graduate and undergraduate. Students may call the main phone number above to set up individual appointments. Students may also visit the Center in ESM 506 to sign up to see a writing consultant. In the fall semester, the Eastman Writing Center works closely with the Freshman Writing Seminar (FWS 121) to support students in their writing for the course.
In the same location, international students will find the English as a Second Language Office and the International Services Office. The ESL Office offers English language assessment and information on Eastman ESL classes, the special summer ESL courses, and Eastman requirements for non-native speakers. Information on the TOEFL test is available. A representative from the University of Rochester’s International Services Office is available for questions regarding visas and immigration.
