SEPTEMBER 10, 2026 | Eastman DMA student Huiping Cai recently received the prestigious Carles & Sofia Victory Award in the Professional Category of the 2026 Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition for her performance of Rachmaninoff. The award recognizes outstanding artistic personality and musical excellence.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2025 | Huiping Cai took top prize in the Vancouver Piano Sessions Concerto Competition, which welcomed pianists from around the world to submit a single movement, chosen from an official repertoire list. She was 1 of 3 competitors in her age category to advance to the finals, where she performed her concerto movement live in front of a 3-person jury. Huiping and 5 other pianists were named winners of the competition, giving each the opportunity to perform as soloists in a special concert with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra that took place on August 13, 2025. Huiping is currently pursuing a DMA in Piano Performance & Literature, studying with Professor Alan Chow, alongside an MM in Piano Accompanying & Chamber Music with Professor Andrew Harley.
