Zhouyi Zuo
Piano Accompanying
Zhouyi Zuo is a collaborative pianist from Hubei Province, China. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies under the direction of Dr. Andrew Harley and holds a graduate assistantship in vocal and instrumental accompanying. Zuo previously earned his Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Kansas, where he studied with Dr. Yi-Yang Chen. During his time at Kansas, he also received extensive training in collaborative piano with Dr. Ellen Sommer and Professor Ted Taylor. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Soochow University School of Music, where his principal teachers included Dr. Yingying Su and Dr. Lo-An Lin.
As both a solo and collaborative pianist, Zuo has performed at venues including Shanghai Concert Hall, Swarthout Recital Hall and the Lied Center of Kansas at the University of Kansas, Hatch Recital Hall and Kilbourn Recital Hall at the Eastman School of Music, and the Enling Arts Center at Soochow University. His recent projects have included performances in the Complete Beethoven Concertos series under the direction of Dr. Yi-Yang Chen, as well as chamber music performances at the St. Lawrence Catholic Center. He has also participated in the Montecito International Music Festival and performed in masterclasses for the Juilliard String Quartet and pianist John Perry.
An active collaborator in both instrumental and vocal repertoire, Zuo was named a finalist in the 2026 Kneisel German Lieder Competition and received a Full Fellowship to attend SongFest in 2026. His honors as a solo pianist include First Prize in the 10th Steinway National Youth Piano Competition, Suzhou Division, and Second Place in the Kansas Music Teachers Association State Piano Competition.
