Piano Accompanying
Zhouyi was born in Hubei Province, China, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies with Dr. Andrew Harley and holds a graduate assistantship in vocal and instrumental accompanying. He previously earned his Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Kansas under Dr. Yi-Yang Chen, and studied collaborative piano with Dr. Ellen Sommer and Professor Ted Taylor. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Soochow University School of Music, studying with Dr. Yingying Su and Dr. Lo-An Lin.
As both a solo and collaborative pianist, Zhouyi has appeared in venues such as the Shanghai Concert Hall, Swarthout Recital Hall at the University of Kansas, the Enling Arts Center at Soochow University, and the Lied Center of Kansas. He has participated in the Montecito International Music Festival and performed in masterclasses for the Juilliard String Quartet and Professor John Perry. Recent projects include the “Complete Beethoven Concertos” series under Dr. Chen and a chamber music performance at the St. Lawrence Catholic Center.
Zhouyi has won numerous awards, including First Prize in the 10th Steinway National Youth Piano Competition (Suzhou Division) and Second Place in the KMTA State Piano Competition. Known for his refined control and expressive musicality, he is an active chamber musician and vocal accompanist with broad experience in recitals, competitions, and festivals.
